IELTS Writing Task 1

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
The table below shows the average band scores for students from different language groups taking the IELTS General Test in 2010.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

  Listening Reading Writing Speaking Overall
German 6.8 6.3 6.6 6.9 6.7
French 6.3 6.1 6.5 6.6 6.5
Indonesian 6.3 6.1 6.1 6.7 6.3
Malay 6.2 6.4 6.0 6.6 6.4

The table shows/illustrates the average band scores in the IELTS General Test in 2010 taken by forstudents who are from four different language groups around the world kinds of four countries in 2010. Overall, in every part in of the exam and all students got at least an average score/grade of 6.0point.

In detail, the German group (German speakers) took the highest points in Listening, Writing and Speaking parts, constituting 6.8, 6.6 and 6.9 respectively. However, with regard to the Reading section German students were ranked second status

In cases of French and Indonesian students, they were proficient in the Speaking test, accountedaccounting for 6.6 and 6.7 respectively. On the other hand, Reading was the weakest part for them, that is, only 6.1 in both groups.

Meanwhile, the Malaysia group (Malay speakers) (“Malay” refers to the language used by people from Malaysia (Malaysians). We’re talking about language groups here, so just use “Malay”.)  was great at in the Speaking part, representing an average point of 6.6 point. However, In Writing, they could did not get a higher score than the others countries language groups.

Totally On the whole/Altogether/All things considered/All in all (“Totally” is an adverb and is used in the middle of a sentence, not at the beginning.), in all parts in IELTS, German students took a test well performed/did the best in the IELTS General Test, achieving the highest overall average (band) score of as 6.7 (German students were only second to Malay students in the Reading section, so you can’t say “in all parts”.). Yet, Malaysian Indonesian students were the poorest at in the test, with an overall average grade of 6.3.

Bổ sung:
Check Cambridge phát thì nó lại nói thế này:

Quote:
used to refer to a single person when you do not know who they are or when it is not important who they are: There's someone outside the house. Someone must have seen what happened. Eventually someone in the audience spoke. You'll have to ask someone else. We'll need a software engineer or someone (= a person with skill of or like the stated type) on the project team.
Thế thì nghĩa của someone cũng bằng cả 2 nghĩa bên trên luôn.

Giải thích về nghĩa của somebody thì nó ghi luôn là someone.

Ví dụ khác. Cái này có vẻ thiên về ảo và thật. Nhưng ví dụ dẫn ra lại khác mấy cái trên nên có vẻ là đi hơi sâu quá vào một vài khía cạnh nhỏ?!?

Quote:
The difference is tiny and quite vague, but to me "someone" sounds a tad more cerebral, while "somebody" is more physical

If I were thinking of the sentences

"He's really somone" and (the former)
"He's really somebody" (the latter)

the former sounds more like he's important, while the second more like he's a presence.

Another comparison might be
"someone is in my house" and (the first)
"somebody is in my house." (the second)

The first sounds a little more abstractly ominious. It might be a ghost or something. The second sounds like there's a guy in there: a burgler (or maybe Jason from F13....)

These are really very minor differences, though....

Có cả cách giải thích về formal hay informal. Cái này cũng khá hơn, nên thử tìm hiểu. Có vẻ thiên về văn viết.

Quote:
'somebody' is considered informal in tone; 'someone' is considered formal in tone. deciding which to use depends upon the tone the writer wishes to portray. in writing dialogue, for example, i would choose 'somebody' to portray informality in speech; however, i would choose 'someone' in an essay to create a tone consistent with a (formal) essay.

Shine, I could see a big improvement in your vocabulary as you managed to apply what you had learned before. You hardly used redundant words, and your verbs are in the proper tenses. You gave a quite detailed report of the given information in the table, too.

However, you could have mentioned in your introduction the separate band scores for all four sections (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking), since they’re also shown in the table. Furthermore, keep in mind that the article “the” is used when you talk about something specific. In addition, the article “a” can be used when you refer to a singular countable noun.  Also, work on your vocabulary and expressions as you tended to misuse some. Lastly, always remember to give accurate data based on the given illustration.

On the whole, your writing has greatly improved. Keep it up!
